Medicare Fraud is a cancer that is widespread and difficult to stop! The top point man at CMS (Benefit Integrity) Peter Budetti discusses strategies CMS has implemented to prevent and stop the growth of Medicare and Medicaid Fraud in a Reuters article “Taking on the Real Miami Vice: Healthcare Fraud” http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/04/13/us-usa-healthcare-fraud-idUSTRE73C2HX20110413. For years CMS has implemented new programs and policies to prevent and detect fraud. Bottom Line it hasn’t worked, health care fraud has only grown. Maybe the spending should be to encourage more whistleblowers to report fraud! Maybe the spending should be used to hire former whistleblowers to help the government stop this cancer!
